Just like any properly done exercise uses the whole body. Any type of pushing we must also train by pulling. Some big-time weightlifters will actually tear their pectoralis muscles. If you search on DuckDuckGo, torn pectoralis muscle, there are a lot of tales of woe and misery, because once that is torn it’s tough to bounce back from. Although it does not end your life, it does end a lifting career or at the very least makes it very difficult.
