Many upper leg injuries are caused by overuse of the hip, hamstring or knees. Arthritis, broken bones and blood clots can also be the reason for pain. There are some types of leg pain that can be avoided, such as overuse. A few of the ways you can help prevent upper leg pain is stretching, rest and using proper technique when using your legs. Some upper leg pain is unavoidable, such as arthritis.

Upper leg pain symptoms aren’t always the same. Some symptoms include, swelling of the hips or knees, stiffness in the hips and/or knees as well as cramps in the muscles in your upper leg.
